Position Summary
This position provides assistance with the maintenance of the building exterior and interior, physical plant and all building systems, and the surrounding grounds. He/she will perform a wide range of skilled
mechanical preventative maintenance tasks and building repair work; perform general upkeep of the external property; and provide required sanitation and cleaning. He/she is part of a team responsible for
the provision of a safe and comfortable building environment for all clients and CS(C) staff.
Hours/Schedule
Full Time – 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday however, working evenings and weekends may be required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Complete assigned facility work orders for repairs, maintenance and preventative tasks in a timely and thorough manner.
• Complete regular review of the condition of the facility, on a timely basis, in conjunction with the supervisor.
• Conduct required readings on heating plant and HVAC equipment, including logging pertinent data in logbooks, in conjunction with the supervisor, per schedules.
• Resolve minor troubleshooting of building systems.
• Complete adjustments and required repairs, as assigned or by following instructions, to Salvation Army standards and in accordance with maintenance procedures.
• Clean, maintain, and service equipment and tools; perform maintenance on small engines; ensure proper storage.
• Assist in furniture assembly and moves.
• May participate in annual safety inspections.
• As assigned by Facilities Supervisor, organize and maintain supplies required for site operation; take inventory count.
Experience, skills and capabilities:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License and satisfactory Driver’s abstract.
• Standard First Aid Certification with Level A or C CPR (can be obtained after hire).
• A satisfactory Police Information Check (PIC) with Vulnerable Sector search.
• Child Intervention Check.
• Minimum one (1) year related experience in building operations, including heat plant, HVAC and general repairs (i.e., electrical, plumbing) as well as year-round groundskeeping.
• At least six months experience in custodial duties.
• Experience in performing a wide range of mechanical maintenance tasks and building repairs.
• Able to pass a provide a satisfactory Police Information Check.
• Desire to support the mission and core values of The Salvation Army.
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
• Background check consent.
• WHMIS Certificate (can be obtained after hire).
• Vertical Mast Lift Training (can be obtained after hire).
• A proof of successful completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training, and required Health and Safety training.
